Abstract

1,033,315. Lining containers. CHEMISCHE WERKE HULS A.G. March 29, 1963 [March 30, 1962], No. 12479/63. Heading B8D. [Also in Divisions B5 and F2] In a process for lining containers with synthetic plastics material, e.g. polyethylene, polypropylene, polyvinylchloride, a tube 4 (Fig. 1, not shown) of the hot plastics material having its lower end closed and welded, is extruded into a container 1 which has a perforated wall portion 3, e.g. in its base, said container 1 being enclosed in a split mould 2, the extruded tube is then cut off and closed at its upper end by the closing of the mould and the hollow article so formed is expended to the shape of the interior of the container by the introduction of compressed air through a hollow needle or nozzle 6 and simultaneously exhausting the displaced air around the article through the perforation 3 and vacuum cup 5. The hollow needle may be reciprocable. In alternative means of carrying out the process the mould 2 may be replaced by a large vessel 9, or cup 10, by holding the container in special grooves in the extrusion nozzle 11, Figs. 4, 5 and 6 (not shown).
