A boom, pivoted at 2 to the rear axle of a tractor comprises inner and outer sections 1, 10 which are pivotally connected by a hinge pin 8, the arrangement being such that the pin 8 is vertical when the section 1 is inclined at an angle of 30 degrees to the horizontal. A device for releasably locking the sections in alignment comprises a U-shaped member 13 which is pivoted at its ends to a shaft 11 secured to the section 10 and which is provided with a pin 14 adapted to engage in a socket 15 on a bracket 16 secured to the section 1. A shovel or fork 17 is pivoted at 18 to the outer end of the boom.
