Abstract

1,032,817. Flexible tube pumps. TECHNICON INSTRUMENTS CORPORATION. Sept. 16, 1964 [Oct. 4, 1963], No. 37898/64. Heading F1F. A flexible tube pump, Figs. 1 and 2 (not shown), comprises a plurality of compressible tubes 44 arranged side-by-side in aligned grooves 40 in a pair of mounting blocks 36 and engaged in the operative position by a retractable platen 18 against which the tubes are compressed by rollers 75 movable along fixed guides 62 by chains 72 connected to the ends thereof. The rollers are driven by a motor (not shown) which drives a pair of sprockets for the chains 72. The platen 18 comprises upper and lower portions 20, 22 separated by a plurality of compression springs 24. The upper portion 20 is secured by screws 26 to a pair of frame members 14 pivoted on pins 16 to a main frame 12 and normally held in position by a toggle type clamping arrangement comprising a pair of pivotable locking levers 100 engageable with pins (not shown) provided on slotted members 86 pivoted to the frame members 14 and having a U-shaped operating handle 84. The clamping arrangement is released by operating a lever 106 whereby the handle 84 and the platen 18 may by pivoted to give access to the tubes 44. A pair of limiting rails 32 (Fig. 3, not shown) are provided on the underside of the platen 18 to prevent the rollers 75 from over pressurizing the tubes 44.
