Abstract
1,032,623. Crimped polyacrylonitrile filaments. COURTAULDS Ltd. Oct. 1, 1962 [Oct. 2, 1961], No. 35493/61. Heading B5B. Crimped filaments made from acrylonitrile polymers are made by extruding a solution of an acrylonitrile polymer prepared by the process of Specification 940,020 into a coagulant, stretching the filaments so formed by at least 400%, relaxing them and then drying them. The examples describe the extrusion of a solution of poly(acrylonitrile-comethyl acrylate) in a mixture of dimethyl formamide and acetone into a toluene coagulating bath, followed by stretching in steam and heating in air.
