Abstract

1,031,573. Clips; stud and socket fastenings. A. RAYMOND. May 14, 1964 [May 16, 1963], No. 20145/64. Heading E2B. A fastener 10 for holding an elongate member such as a cable to a stud comprises a substantially flat base 11 and a pair of arms 12, 13 extending upwardly to one side of the base, wherein the base 11 is formed with two longitudinally spaced teeth 15 which are sheared and bent from the base and the transverse end edges 15a of which define a hole adapted to receive a stud and permit the stud to pass through the hole in one direction and hinder movement of the stud through the hole in the other direction and wherein the arms 12, 13 extend first inwardly towards one another and are then bowed to form, in co-operation, a part-cylindrical member engaging portion positioned above the hole in the base. In the embodiments shown the edges 15a of the teeth 15 are curved to receive the cylindrical stud in the hole and triangular edge portions 15b of the teeth are bent upwardly. In a second embodiment, Fig. 8, resilient tongues 18 are sheared and bent from the arms 12, 13. Apertures 20 are formed in the lower portions of the arms 12, 13 to allow the jaws of a pliers like tool 19 to engage the teeth 15 and free the fastener from the stud 16 after it has been secured thereto.
