Abstract
1,030,787. Asphalt roofing. ASPHALTIC (LONDON) Ltd. Feb. 26, 1965 [Nov. 26, 1963], No. 46685/63. Heading E1V. A method of forming a waterproof, heat insulating cover over a roof decking comprising the steps of applying a layer of expanded thermoplastic material, placing over part of its area one or more insulating boards or sheets, applying waterproofing material, such as asphalt, in a hot condition over said boards or sheets and allowing the waterproofing material to cool, moving the boards or sheets so that they cover part of the layer of thermoplastic material adjacent to that on which the waterproofing material has been laid, applying further waterproofing material in hot condition over the boards or sheets and repeating the sequence of moving the boards or sheets and applying the waterproofing material over them until the whole area has been covered. A layer of felt-like material may be placed on the boards or sheets before the waterproof material is applied thereto. The final strip of waterproof material to be applied may be a premoulded strip applied directly to the thermoplastic material. A second layer of waterproofing material may be applied in hot condition over the first layer.
