Abstract

Pneumatic cleaning apparatus, Figs. 1 and 2 (not shown) comprises an electric motor driven carriage 3 which travels continuously in one direction along, or traverses between the ends of, a track rail 2 above one or more spinning frames 1 (or rows thereof) and carries an air blower or fan housed in a spiral casing 6 each suction duct 7 of which communicates through a filter sieve 9 with a filter box 8. Suction and blowing pipes 27, 28, and 13, 14, 15, 16, 17, 18, 19, extend from box 8 and a pressure distribution box 12 and terminate in nozzles positioned adjacent the parts of the frames which are to be cleaned of waste fibres. The material collected in the box 8 is periodically discharged therefrom (through a hopper into a static receptacle) by the action of a blast of air under the control of mechanically interlinked flaps or valves, Figs. 3-5 (not shown). A first flap (movement of which actuates the other flaps) uncovers an aperture in an outside wall of the box; a second flap breaks the connection between the box and the suction side of the fan; a third flap simultaneously establishes communication between the box and the pressure side of the fan and breaks the connection between the pressure side of the fan and the distribution box; a series of other flaps close communication between box 8 and the suction tubes.
