Abstract

The process for purifying a polymer as claimed in Claim 1 of Specification 870,326 is modified, subsequent to treatment of the polymer with dry HCl in the optional presence of organic solvents, by washing the polymer with aqueous wash liquor in one or more washing operations and thereafter adding to the washed polymer an amount of neutralizing agent, e.g. sodium carbonate, which does not exceed or substantially exceed the stoichiometric amount required to neutralize to pH7 the hydrogen ion content of the washed polymer.
