Abstract
1,028,621. Retractable writing instruments. W. NAGELE. Jan. 17. 1963 [Feb. 1. 1962], No. 2210/63. Heading B6P. In a multiple retractable writing instrument, wherein the lead carriers 13 are individually locked in the projected position by the cam-slot arrangement of a holding sleeve 12 mounted for non-axial, rotative movement in the casing 11; the retracting springs 16 are hooked at 17 to the rear of a sleeve 20, Figs. 3 and 4 (not shown), inserted into the rear of the casing 11 and retained there against axial and relative movement relative to the casing by a projection 19 engaging a recess 21 in the casing 11. An axial recess 18<SP>1</SP> in the casing initially aligns the projection 19 of the sleeve 20 with the recess 21. When the sleeve 20 is in place, as shown in Fig. 1, the axial recess 18<SP>1</SP> houses a lug 25 of the pocket clip 24 to prevent rotation of the clip relative to casing. The rear of the sleeve 20, which protrudes beyond the rear of the casing 11, is threaded to accommodate a cap 30.
