Abstract

Wood is preserved by providing the wooden body with at least one bore channel or hollow space provided with closing or sealing means and introducing into the bore channel or hollow space a liquid mixture which has been formed by mixing from 35 to 50 parts by weight of a solid boron compound having pesticidal or wood preservative properties e.g. boric acid and 65 to 50 parts by weight of a solid fluorine compound having pesticidal or wood preservative properties e.g. ammonium difluoride, without the addition of water or other solvents. The liquid mixture may contain additional known fungicidal, insecticidal, bactericidal or fire resistant solid substances in an amount that the mixture remains pourable after stirring e.g. phosphorus pentoxide, arsenic pentoxide, chromic acid or ammonium silicofluorides. The wooden body may have a central bore and a transverse filling channel. The central bore may be devided by a stopper to provide a 15 cm channel in the earth air zone.
