Abstract

1,028,141. Heat- or sound-proof material. LISTER & CO. Ltd. Oct. 26, 1962 [July 28, 1961; Nov. 6, 1961], Nos. 27484/61 and 39603/61. Heading D1P. [Also in Division B5] A heat or sound insulating material is formed by impregnating an uncut warp pile fabric consisting of a pair of spaced ground fabrics connected by a pile yarn with a hardened or hardenable synthetic resin. The material may have a worsted count of up to 15. 5. There may be 280 pile yarn legs per sq. in of material. The ground fabrics may be spaced apart 1/ 16 to 9 inch. The fabric may be of wool, mohair, silk, cotton, kapok, asbestos, rayon, glass, nylon, terylene, polyacrylonitrile, polypropylene, or polyethylene. The resin may be a cold or thermosetting silicone rubber, acrylonitrile rubber, dichloroxylene/polybenzyl resin, siloxane/pdichloroxylylene resin, or terphenyl/p-dichloroxylylene resin. Resin solvents specified are toluene and 1, 2-dichloroethylene. The ground fabrics may be separated during impregnation by a pair of bars.
