A multiple pen including two or more projectible pen units a, a 1 , each attached to a spring-retracted pusher d, has a ramp carried by each pusher, which ramp when its pusher is operated disengages a projected unit so that the unit is retracted by its spring. In one embodiment, Fig. 1 (no shown), each pusher has a head g and is retracted by a spring f situated between the inner end g 1 of the head and a recess e 1 in a fixed block e. Each head g has a projection k on its inner face which in the retracted position enters a slot i 1 in a fixed central partition i, with the outer end j of the head g abutting against a shoulder h 1 , In the projected position, the end j engages the inner end i 2 of the partition i. The inner end of each projection k is formed as a ramp k 1 which, if the head g of a retracted pen is moved downwardly engages the inner end j of the projection k of a projected pen and releases the head end j from the part i 2 so that its spring f retracts the pen. In a modified construction, Figs. 5, 6 (not shown), a head g when moved to projected position, moves a ball o, by means of a ramp m 1 on the head, into a recess m in the other head g, and the ramp on the other head moves the ball in the opposite direction when that head is pushed inwardly, so as to release the first head.
