Abstract
1,025,868. Injection moulding machines. DESMA-WERKE G.m.b.H. Aug. 20, 1964 [Aug. 31, 1963], No. 34013/64. Heading B5A. Material is plasticized prior to injection, in two stages, the first being under low pressure with movement of the material forwardly in an injection cylinder 12 by means of a screw 11, and the second stage being under higher pressure with little or no forward movement of the material. The changeover from low to high pressure is effected when the screw 11 has moved rearwardly to the position shown so that a switch 15 and a valve 26 are closed. Closing of valve 26 applies the full pressure from a pump 23 to a piston 14b connected to the screw 11. Closing of switch 15 also operates a time switch 18 which, after a pre-set time, switches off a motor 20 driving the screw 11 through gearing 21.
