102,546. Davies, T. M., and Stepney Spare Motor Wheel, Ltd. Feb. 28, 1916. Air tubes.- In air-tubes having, at the rim part, a protecting strip of rubber containing pitch or like material, the tube a is moulded on a smooth mandrel with the strip b on the inside, and is then wrapped and vulcanized. The tube is then turned inside out, so that the finished tube has a smooth surface, the part b normally assuming the incurved position shown. The edges of the protecting-strip may be tapered, or the same result obtained by building up the strip in plies of graded widths.
