Abstract

1,025,198. Casting-machines. BOCHUMER VEREIN FUR GUSSSTAHLFABRIKATION A.G. Nov. 8, 1962 [Nov. 8, 1961; June 20, 1962], No. 42249/62. Heading B3F. Degasified metal is poured into a receiving vessel having at least two perforations spaced along its axis, and passes in vacuo through the perforations into a slab mould of oblong crosssection, the receiving vessel being so disposed over the mould that the said axes lies immediately above and parallel to the longitudinal axis of the mould cross-section. The perforated receiving dish and mould may be contained in one vacuum chamber on which the ladle sits, and the ladle may be contained in a second vacuum chamber. Alternatively, Fig. 3, there are three vacuum chambers 1, 6 and 8 giving three degasification stages. In a modification, Fig. 5 (not shown) the perforations of the tin dish 4 are controlled by stoppers 27, 28 which may be actuated mechanically, hydraulically or electrically, e.g. as in Specifications 1,011,056 and 966,163 which are referred to.
