Abstract
Polyamides are derived from 1,4-bis-(b -aminoethyl) benzene and polymeric fat acids of which at least 95 weight per cent are dimers or a mixture thereof with a compound R11OOC-COOR11; R11-OCC-R1-COO-R11 H2N(CH2)xCOOR or <FORM:1024535/C3/1> where R1 is a C1- 20 aliphatic or C6- 20 alicyclic or aromatic hydrocarbon radical, R11 is H or C1- 8 alkyl and x is 2 to 15. In the examples, 1,4 - bis - (b - aminoethyl) benzene is condensed with a fraction of polymerized tall oil acids containing 98.4 weight per cent dimer and with a mixture thereof with sebacic acid.
