1,024,477. Adjusting waists; hook and eye fastenings. TAITO J. GAKUEN. Dec. 24, 1962 [Dec. 26, 1961 (2); Sept. 4, 1962; Sept. 13, 1962], No. 48551/62. Headings A3H and A3V. A garment comprises a front part and a back part permanently interconnected by a waist lining and a side lining and adjustable by a band with fastening means connected one to each part, the excess length of lining parts being formed into pleats when the waist is tightened. One end of each side connecting band 5 has a pivotal connecting joint 8 with the inside of the front part 3 of the waist of a pair of trousers, and the other end is connected to a slider 7 of a zip fastener 6 secured to the inside of the back part 4. When the waist is tightened the waist lining 12 and the side lining 20 interconnecting the front and back parts form a pleat. The fastener which may be a buckle or loop or the like may be secured to the outside of the waist. One end of the band 5 may be secured to the upper side edge of the trousers. A hook and eye fastening for the front of the trousers comprises two hooks e, e<SP>1</SP> mounted on a metal base and two eyes mounted on another metal base. The joint 8 comprises an eye in the form of an apertured elongated plate which is pivoted either directly or by means of a link to a second plate which is secured either by sewing or by prongs clamped over a backing plate.
