Abstract
1,022,471. Pneumatic separation. K. KORBER. May 3, 1963 [May 9, 1962], No. 17823/62. Heading B2H. Tobacco leaf and heavier particles to be separated, and represented by V, Fig. 4, are introduced through an intake 4, Fig. 3, of a separator and projected in the direction of the arrow 15 into a separator chamber 10, one fraction Sl of heavier particles falling towards a first extractor 5. The fraction V1 carried upwardly is conveyed towards two air float separator chambers 11 and 12 and crosses a stream of heavier particles M1, travelling in the direction of the arrows 18, 19, and consisting of heavy particles falling back from the chambers 11 and 12, which returns to the stream V1 and causes some of the heavier particles to fall therethrough in a stream M2. The streams M1 and M2 fall towards a second extractor 7, while the streams B1 and B2 of pure leaf material pass upwardly to take-off ducts 66 and 67. The streams Ml and M2 are passed by the extractor 7 to a further chamber 14 in which a further fraction B3 of leaf material is extracted whilst the heavy particles S2 fall downwardly and are combined with the fraction Sl to form a combined flow S which may be introduced into a second separator group intake 4. If V represents 100% of the starting material, then S represents about 55À5 % and B 44À5%.
