Wind instruments; actions; expression-controlling.-In an electric or electro-pneumatic action for organs, the department on which a note is to be sounded is selected by means of auxiliary tracker devices. As shown in Fig. 1, the noteplaying tracker-contacts 9 are connected to opposed windings 16 on magnets 12, 13, and through contact 5 or 6 to one or other of the magnets 3, 4 of the different departments. If the auxiliary contacts are connected before the contacts 9, the switch arm 7 is lifted by means of an auxiliary winding 22 on the magnet 12, and the magnet 4 is energized; otherwise the switch 7 is held down by gravity, or by the magnet 13, and magnet 3 is energized. In the modification shown in Fig. 3, magnets 13<b>, 12<b> connected to the note-playing contacts 9<b> act in opposition on armatures on a rocking arm weighted at 29<b> and the diverting- contacts 10<b> are connected to a separate magnet 22b and swith contacts 6<b>. If the diverting-contacts 9<b> are connected, the circuits 1<b>, 2<b> of the different departments are both closed; otherwise the circuit 1<b> only is completed. Pneumatic relays may be used in place of the tracker-contacts or of the playing-magnets 3, 4. The diverting contacts or apertures may be arranged in groups or banks.
