Abstract
1,021,069. Electric cut-outs. A. P. RODRIQUEZ. Nov. 29, 1963 [Dec. 6, 1962], No. 47234/63. Heading H2G. A protector (for a polyphase system) comprises a housing 1 supporting a plurality of fuse elements 4 electrically and thermally insulated from one another, except that over a part 5 of each of their lengths they are exposed to, but spaced from, one another in such a way that fusion of one element causes the exposed parts of the other elements to fuse. Fusion of the other elements arises from a spreading of the arc from the first element, and is assisted by the heat of fusion of the first element being confined in the small space 5. The housing may be of porcelain and may have channels 3 carrying the fuse elements and packed with gas absorbing materials such as quartz-sand. Each fuse element may be connected in one phase of a polyphase system.
