Abstract

In coating metallic or other conductive supports with synthetic resins by anodic electro-deposition from aqueous organic solvent solutions at elevated temperature of synthetic resins of acid number above 10 made water-soluble by treatment with ammonia, an aliphatic amine, or a quaternary ammonium derivative of such amine to render it non-acid, the coating bath is regenerated by adding water and an un-neutralized solution of the resin in a water-miscible solvent. Typically the coating baths are those described in the parent Specification and are maintained at 40-60 DEG C. and are used to coat anodically metal or metal alloy or phosphated metal or metal alloy supports as of foil, strip or wire with constant current density by applying an increasing potential up to 250 volts, the coatings being hardened by heat-treatment at 80-220 DEG C.
