March 18, 1964 [March 18, 1963], No. 11364/64. Heading G2A. A camera with an automatic photo-electric exposure control system has an indicating device by which colour signs appear in the viewfinder to show the possibility of picture taking often the automatic setting of one exposure factor and the manual preselection of the remaining factors by rotation of the galvanometer 2 of the photoelectric device. A translucent plate 5 is secured to the galvanometer pointer 3 behind a light entry 6 and is marked with diaphragm scales 9,10,11, 12 in sectors of different radii, one side 13 being coloured red and the other side having a further red area 15 which partly covers the scales, the scales themselves being green. A mirror 7 reflects part of the illumined scale into the viewfinder and dependent on the film sensitivity and exposure time, is adjustable radially of the galvanometer axis 14, so that all sectors may be selectively covered. The opposite end of pointer 3 cooperates with stepped cylinder 18 pivoted at 17 and a pointer brake (not shown) for the automatic control of the diaphragm lever 20. Rotation of the galvanometer causes radial movement of mirror 7 through the interaction of control cam 23, fast with the galvanometer, and pin 24 on a-swinging arm 25 pivoted at 26 and engaging at the other end in slot 28 of the mirror-carrying plate 29. Plate 29 is carried on rod 30 which is spring-loaded and is held in frame 31 pivoted at 32. The galvanometer 2 is coupled through a differential setting device to controls for manually setting film sensitivity and shutter speed before the diaphragm is automatically set. If the lighting is inadequate part of the red area is seen and is optionally allowed for by the manual alteration of the shutter speed and hence the mirror position.
