Abstract
1,019,362. Hyperbolic parabaloid roofs. NEMAHO N. V. April 27, 1962 [Oct. 5, 1961], No. 38578/61. Heading E1V. A roof of substantially the configuration of a hyperbolic paraboloid is formed of two strata of panels each comprised of two layers of boards and in one stratum the panels extend longitudinally in a direction parallel to a vertical plane through two opposite roof corners and in the other stratum the panels are arranged at right angles thereto so that one stratum takes the compressive forces and the other stratum the tensile forces. The panels are constructed by forming to shape a roof of two layers of boards running parallel to the plane joining two corners and glueing the layers together. Panels are then cut from this roof or separated therefrom along lines where glue is omitted and similar panels are formed with boards running parallel to the plane joining the other corners. The panels are transported to the site, being self supporting in shape, and are superposed and assembled between and secured to girders joining the corners of the roof. The two panel layers are secured together as by railing.
