Abstract
1,018,705. Tachometer-generators. S. SMITH & SONS (ENGLAND) Ltd. Aug. 28, 1964 [June 28, 1963], No. 25738/63. Heading H2A. A tachometer-generator comprises a pick-up coil 8 on a magnetic rod 4 which is polarized by a magnet 3 at one end and whose other end is close to a rotating magnetic member 12 which induces measurable ripples in the coil flux. The active end of the rod may carry an adjustable pole-piece which may be of various shapes, and is surrounded by a flux-return cylinder. The open end of this cylinder may be castellated.
