Abstract
1,018,682. Two-part couplings. CARR FASTENER CO. Ltd. June 19, 1964 [Sept. 3, 1963], No. 34783/63. Heading H2E. A printed circuit board 1, which has an edge portion insertable into a slot 5 in an edge connector 4 without making rubbing engagement with the resilient contacts 6, is provided with a means which when inserted into the slot causes transverse movement of the board 1 so as to move the printed circuitry on the board into engagement with the resilient contacts 6. At the same time, pins in the socket may engage holes in the board to lock it. The means can take the form of a metal, plastics or laminate plate-like member 2b integral with an arm mounted so as to slide on the printed circuit board (Fig. 1 and 2, not shown). The end of the plate-like member 2b is bevelled at 2c to facilitate entry into the slot 5. Alternatively, the means can be in the form of a frame member (Fig. 6, not shown) slidable on the printed circuit board or can be a plate-like member actuated by a rod, which may be removable, in various ways (Figs. 7-10, not shown). Also the plate-like slidable member need not be attached to the printed circuit board.
