Abstract

1,016,232. Centrifugal mixing - apparatus. J. F. A. MEYER. Feb. 27, 1963 [Dec. 7, 1961], No. 43783/61. Heading B1C. Fluent materials fed into rotating feed tubes 1, 2 of a continuous-discharge mixer are projected by centrifuge plates 3, 4 on to the same region of a stationary or rotating drum 23. Scrapers 22 rotate more slowly than the plates 3, 4. The material falls on to a moving belt or a receptacle. An impeller 13 with blades inclined to the vertical and rotating faster than the plates 3, 4, or a spring-loaded platform 25, Fig. 3 (not shown) on which a minimum depth of material must rest before it can escape through ports 6, may be provided. Vertical rods may hang from a guide cone 7 to prevent solids from packing. The apparatus may be of brass, stainless steel or plastics, and metal surfaces may be plastics coated. The mixer may be enclosed. In a further embodiment (Provisional Drawings, not shown), the materials are projected by a pair of downwardly and outwardly tapering, a pair of horizontal, and a pair of downwardly and inwardly tapering centrifuge plates on to the wall of a cylindrical drum.
