Abstract

The invention comprises nicotinic acid esters of a lactone, ester or amide of glucuronic acid of formulae <FORM:1015800/C2/1> and <FORM:1015800/C2/2> in which R represents an amino or alkoxy radical, and acid addition salts thereof, and the preparation thereof by reacting nicotinic acid or a functional derivative thereof with glucuronic acid, an inorganic or ammonium salt thereof, glucuronolactone, an alkyl ester of glucuronic acid or glucuronamide. Suitable functional derivatives of nicotinic acid are nicotinoyl halides, nicotinic anhydride or a mixed anhydride with an organic or inorganic acid. Therapeutic compositions which are useful in the treatment of diseases due to disturbances of peripheral circulation and arteriosclerosis, and which may be administered orally as tablets, pills, granules, dispersible powders, capsules, solutions or suspensions, contain as active ingredients the compounds claimed above.
