Abstract
1,015,602. Inductors. PLESSEY CO. Ltd. Nov. 12, 1962 [Aug. 10, 1961], No. 28969/61. Heading H1T. [Also in Division H4] A coil assembly includes two coils having a common ferromagnetic core, relative movement between the core and the coils varying the inductances of the latter, at least one of the coils having two series or parallel windings 13a, 13b having the planes of their turns inclined to each other so as to produce a resultant magnetic field vector normal to that produced by the other coil 12. The assembly may form the aerial coil 12 and the local oscillator coil 13a, 13b of a superheterodyne radio receiver, the windings 13a, 13b having equal turns, being connected in series opposition and being wound over coil 12 on a square section former. Within the former is a square section ferrite rod core which acts as an aerial element of the flux concentrating type.
