Abstract

101,538. Frank, S. J., (Assignee of Clermont, J. B.). Sept. 23, 1915, [Convention date]. Doors; lift doors.-A lift, warehouse, or like door consists of two sections, the lower section 13 sliding in channel guides 11 on the upper section 10. Cross-braces 30 may be secured to the guides 11. Rollers 14 on the section 10 travel in guideways 16, which are curved over at the top to horizontal or slightly inclined guideways 18. The section 13 slides in fixed guideways formed by angle-irons 22 and plates 23; the upper ends of the angle-irons limit the downward movement of the upper section. Cables 26 at each side are connected by links 25 to brackets 24 near the lower edges of the section 13, and are operated by a single hand or power winch. The lower section first slides over the upper section until the brackets 24 engage the lower edge of the upper section, and both sections then move together. When the rollers 14 reach the guideways 18, both door sections are moved inwardly and obliquely from the doorway and are finally supported substantially horizontally, so that the doorway is quite clear. The door is closed by gravity, and may comprise more than two sections; any desired counterbalance may be fitted.
