Abstract
1,014,985. Aircraft. SVENSKA AEROPLAN A.B. Dec. 6, 1963 [Dec. 7, 1962], No. 48251/63. Headings B7G and B7W. [Also in Division F2] An aircraft has a main wing 1 and a canard secondary wing 5, the secondary wing having 15- 30% of the area of the main wing, both being thin, i.e. less than 10%, and having highlyswept, i.e. 55-70 degrees leading edges. The secondary wing is located above and spaced forwardly from the main wing, e.g. by distances less than one-third and one-half respectively of the root chord of the secondary wing, so that the vortex sheet shed by each secondary wing leading edge has a downward movement over the main wing and combines with the corresponding vortex sheet of the main wing. The leading edges may be straight, as in the lower part of Fig. 3, or of double-delta form, as in the upper part of Fig. 3, where the knee 3 of the main wing is directly behind the tip of the secondary wing. The main wing has control surfaces 2 and the secondary wing has blown flaps or elevators 8 fed from the compressor of a jet-propulsion engine 9.
