Abstract

1,014,844. Collapsible push-chairs. BABYMATE Inc. Sept. 12, 1963 [Sept. 17, 1962], No. 35379/62. Heading B7B. A collapsible push-chair has a wheeled base 10 to which are pivoted tubes 30 to telescopically accommodate the U-shaped handle 68. The handle tubes 30 carry brackets 34 on which the seat supporting frame 20 is pivoted, the lower end of the frame 20 being pivotally connected at 26 to links 24 carried rotatably on the axle 14 so that the joint 26 may be " broken " rearwardly to collapse the pushchair. A spring-urged foot-operated pivoted catch 98 engages a projection 104 integral with one link 24 to maintain the push chair in its erected condition. The back-rest 54 is pivoted at 60 in slots 52 in plates 44 carried by the frame 20 and also carries pins 58 which may be selectively engaged in slots 46 48 and 50 to vary its inclination. When the back-rest is in a horizontal position the fabric hood 62 serves to locate a cot in position, the cot being further supported at the forward end by the foot-rest 92 which is swung upwardly on links 94. A sun canopy 72 is provided with pins 78 to engage an opposite pair of holes 74 in the handle 68 to allow its height to be varied.
