Abstract

1,014,686. Measuring electrically. PHILIPS ELECTRONIC & ASSOCIATED INDUSTRIES Ltd. June 4, 1963 [June 6, 1962], No. 22156/63. Heading G1N. A force-measuring device consists of an outer cylinder or ring 1 and an inner cylinder 6 interconnected by radial elements 7 to which electrical strain gauges 8 are fastened, and which are arranged to be subjected to a bending stress by the force to be measured. The force to be measured is preferably applied axially to cylinder 6 while cylinder 1 is fixed. A plurality of these devices may be bolted together at 9, 10 (Fig. 1, not shown).
