Abstract
1,014,476. Read-only stores. INTERNATIONAL BUSINESS MACHINES CORPORATION. July 31, 1963 [Aug. 15, 1962], No. 31301/62. Heading G4A. Where an inductive connection is made between drive conductors 11 and sense conductors 12 by means of patterns of coupling conductors 16 or 17, the effect is enhanced by providing an unbalanced capacitive coupling between the conductors. It is explained that by splitting the coupling conductors diagonally, as shown, the coupling between conductors X and C is greater than that between X and D. The e.m.f. across C and D is therefore increased by this capacitive coupling. Various patterns are shown for various configurations of drive conductors, including a single drive conductor which for a short distance is caused to run parallel to the sense conductors. The patterns 16, 17 can represent the two binary values or two of the ternary values, the zero being represented by absence of a pattern.
