Abstract

The invention comprises the 1-phenyl-n-amyl monoester of camphoric acid of formula <FORM:1014350/C2/1> and non-toxic salts thereof. The ester may be prepared by reacting camphoric anhydride and sodium 1-phenylamylate in an inert organic solvent at 30-150 DEG C. The above compounds have cholepoietic activity and may be administered intramuscularly or intravenously, or orally as tablets, pills, capsules, syrups or elixirs.
