Abstract

1,013,583. Latch fastenings; stud and socket fastenings. STILE-CRAFT MANUFACTURERS Inc. March 7, 1963, No. 9155/63. Headings E2A and E2B. [Also in Division F2] A latch for a pipe coupling (see Division F2) comprises a hinge portion 69 pivoted in flanges 67, 68 of a bracket 60, a portion 70 which includes a cam 74 for engagement with a catch abutment 75 of a plug 51, and a lever portion which is bent forwardly at 80 and projects through a slot in the cover plate 55. A spring 81 urges the cam into its operative position. Depression of the lever portion disengages the cam 74 and abutment 75 for withdrawal of the plug 51. The aperture in the cover plate 55 through which the latch plug 51 passes may be rectangular or circular. A socket member 23 of the pipe coupling possesses a head 26 which is received between two flanges of the bracket 60 and held by screws 66, the bracket being provided with a keying means consisting of a key or slot which co-operates with a complementary keying means on the head (Figs. 5, 7, 8 not shown).
