Abstract

1,012,774. Lighting apparatus. ANCIENS ETABLISSEMENTS BARKIEC, BENARD & TURENNE. Sept. 18, 1963 [Sept. 19, 1962], No. 36803/63. Heading F4R. Apparatus for shadowless lighting, especially for surgical operations, comprises a reflecting surface of revolution having a light source at the centre surrounded by a transparent sleeve having lenticles around the periphery which deflect the majority of the light rays into planes other than radial planes. The reflecting surface is preferably frusto-conical. In the form shown, the lamp is arranged at the centre of a sleeve 1, Fig. 2, formed with internal lenticles 4 which spread the light. The lamp and sleeve are arranged at the centre of a reflecting surface 3 which directs the light on to an area below the reflector. The sleeve may be provided externally with Fresnel rings. Alternatively, the lenticles 4 may be on the external surface of the sleeve as in Fig. 5.
