Abstract
1,012,291. Sampling apparatus. BABCOCK & WILCOX Ltd. Dec. 11, 1964 [Dec. 12, 1963], No. 49123/63. Heading B8N. An apparatus for sampling pulverulent material, such as coal, from a chamber 6 at superatmospheric pressure comprises a rotatable carrier 18 slidable in a sleeve 10 and having at its inner end a receptacle 16 which may be oriented to bring an opening therein into line with falling material and also may be withdrawn into the sleeve and rotated to deliver collected material through an aperture 9 in the sleeve; The carrier is provided with guide plates 24 adapted to run on rods 33 secured between opposite walls of the chamber 6. In operation, the carrier is moved, by means of handle 20, from the position shown in which material has fallen into the receptacle 16, to a position wherein the receptacle is within the sleeve; upon rotation of the carrier, the material in the receptacle falls through the aperture 9 in the sleeve.
