Abstract

1,010,715. Building units. WILSONS CAVICRETE Ltd. June 4, 1963 [March 10, 1962], No. 9316/62. Heading E1B. [Also in Division B5] In a building block comprising at least two wall elements united by ties, at least one wall element consists of a layer of cement or concrete which is bonded to an outer layer of foamed or aerated synthetic resin. As shown, the block comprises two wall elements one of which is formed of a sandwich of one or more layers 6 of foamed polystyrene, polyurethane, or P.V.C., with cement or concrete layers 5, 7 of differing thicknesses. The ties 8 of the block are of reinforced concrete extending into the wall elements and the layers of synthetic resin are perforated or alternatively formed in sections positioned side by side to aid in keying with the layers 5, 7. The block may have a dimension equal to the storey height of a building. The block is formed in a mould, the wall elements being separated by a temporary plate having holes corresponding to the positions of the ties 8.
