Abstract
1,010,431. Endless conveyers. SPOONER DRYER & ENGINEERING CO. Ltd. June 20, 1963 [March 29, 1962], No. 12010/62. Heading B8A. In a conveyer system having trays 11 swingably connected between a pair of endless chains 10 there is provided at one turn of the conveyer at least, a tray steadying wheel 30 coaxial with a pair of sprocket wheels 18 to positively drive the tray at an angular velocity relative to the wheels 18 such that each tray 11 is maintained in a predetermined attitude as the conveyer changes direction. A plurality of rollers 36 at the periphery of the traysteadying wheel 30 mesh with a sprocket wheel 38 secured to one end of each tray 11. The wheel 30 secured to a gear-wheel 52 is roller mounted on a shaft 32 keyed to the chain sprocket wheels 18. A gear-wheel 44 also keyed to the shaft 32 transmits the drive through keyed gear-wheels 46, 50 to the gear-wheel 52. A single pair of pins 60 eccentrically disposed on the wheel 38, co-operate with suitable guides, e.g. 62, Fig. 2, to control the attitude of the trays 11 on the straight runs of the system. These guides may be used just upstream of the tray steadying wheel 30 to correct the angle of the tray before engagement with the wheel 30. The conveyer may run through a treatment zone 12 in which hot gases are ejected from nozzles 70 to dry-moulded pulp articles being conveyed on the trays 11.
