Abstract
100,997. Henkel et Cie. Aug. 18, 1915, [Convention date]. Sodium percarbonate, 2Na2, CO3, 3H2O2, is obtained by treating sodium carbonate with an aqueous solution of hydrogen peroxide in the proportion of not less than 3 molecules of hydrogen peroxide to 2 molecules of sodium carbonate. The scdium carbonate and hydrogen peroxide may be wholly or in part produced during the process, for instance by using sodium bicarbonate and sodium peroxide. For instance, sodium bicarbonate may be introduced into 10 per cent. solution of hydrogen peroxide (which may be obtained from sodium peroxide and sulphuric acid), and sodium peroxide is added in portions, the temperature being kept at 0‹ C.
