Abstract

A multi-spindle drilling machine comprises spindles 36 driven through gears from a belt and pulley 21, 20, means 26a for adjusting the spindles in the directions of arrows 45, Fig. 3, and means 33 for adjusting the spindles in the directions of arrows 35, Fig. 4. Means 26a comprises a screwed spindle 26 which passes through apertures 30 in blocks 27, the blocks being slidable horizontally and vertically in a slot 28 formed in a bracket 29. Each aperture 30 has a half-nut 31 which can be moved into engagement with spindle 26 to enable horizontal adjustment of the block 27. Means 33 comprises a screwed spindle 32 journalled in a holder 34 and screwed into a block 27. The machine includes two sets of spindles symmetrically arranged. Making hinges.-Two hinge halves 10 are punched without waste from strip material to form knuckles 11, 12 together with holes 13, and the knuckles are then preliminarily rolled, finished rolled and then milled to length, and the holes are then countersunk by the multispindle drilling machine.
