Abstract
1,009,598. Electric filament lamps and discharge lamps. PHILIPS ELECTRONIC & ASSOCIATED INDUSTRIES Ltd. April 16, 1964 [April 19, 1963], No. 15805/64. Headings HID and H1F. An electric filament or discharge lamp has at least one socket composed of at least two components, the adjacent parts of which are in the form of discs so that the components can be adjusted with respect to each other and the discs joined face-to-face by spot welds, the surfaces of the discs remote from the connection surfaces being accessible over at least part of their area. In the form shown, the cap carries a disc 5 at each end, the outer surface of which is arranged in contact with a disc 6 having a pin 8. The pins are secured in an optical centering device (not shown) and the lamp body moved until the optical centre of the lamp lies on the common axis of the pins, the discs 5, 6 being then spot welded. To adjust the optical centre longitudinally of the lamp, a third component 9 embraces the pin 8 and is moved along this to the desired position and secured in place by a screw 10. If desired, a further locking pin 11 can then be fitted to secure the component 9 against working loose by vibration.
