Abstract

1,009,094. Two-part couplings; plug boards. AMP Inc. Sept 25, 1964 [Oct. 8, 1963], No. 39072/64. Heading H2E. An electrical connector latch plug comprises a conductive tubular part 5 with an end 9 for connection to an insulated conductor 10 and a tubular contact portion 6, the part 5 being integral with a resilient detent 14, and a nose member 17 projecting forwardly and rearwardly of the contact portion 6 so that when moved rearwardly, it prevents inward movement of the detent 14. After the plug has been inserted in a plug-board 4, removal can be effected by a rearward pull but any force applied to the nose member 17 locks the detent against movement to prevent accidental removal of the plug. The nose member 17 can be of circular section as shown, or can be of rectangular or triangular section, the contact portion being of a corresponding shape. Several detents can be formed around the nickel plated hard brass body 5, around which is moulded an insulating sheath 11, to engage suitably shaped end portions 21 of the nose member 17. The contact portions 6 engage blade contacts 22.
