1,007,946. Autoclave for treating asbestos-. cement sheets. CENTRE DE RECHERCHES DE PONT-A-MOUSSON. Dec. 9, 1963 [Jan. 10, 1963], No. 48426/63. Heading B1X. An autoclave for treating asbestos-cement sheets carried in trucks in the autoclave, comprises externally at least two peripherally mounted rolling rings supported on rollers with a toothed sector for rotating the autoclave through 90 degrees while inside the autoclave there are supports for the sheets and trucks which hold them when the autoclave is tilted through 90 degrees. In a specific embodiment, Figs. 1 and 2, trucks 9 loaded with asbestoscement sheets P are rolled into the autoclave from the runway C on to rails 8. The lid I is placed on the autoclave and steam delivered thereto to effect a hardening process. The autoclave is rotated through 90 degrees by means of motor M acting on gear wheel 7 and sector 6, the rolling rings 2 being held by pairs of rollers 3 which are mounted on bearers 4. The bearers 4 are mounted on rollers 5 which allow for expansion of the autoclave. When the autoclave is tilted through 90 degrees, abutment 12 and planar support 13 hold the asbestos sheets P while the truck 9 with its metal plate 10 are held by check rail 11 and blocks 14 and 15 respectively, thus the plates splay out when in the vertical position and allow free circulation of steam around them. The autoclave is then drained and righted.
