1,007,460. Securing flats on vehicles. SOC. NATIONALE DES CHIMINS DE FERFRANCAIS, P. AVIT, and G. MERCEREAU. Oct. 11, 1962 [May 8, 1962], No. 38637/62. Heading B8E. [Also in Division B7] A shock absorbing support for transporting an object in a vehicle, comprises two skis 12 each having a wooden runner 14 and a metal girder 15 and being guided by guides 17 fixed to the vehicle floor 13, each ski being connected to the floor by a stretcher 20, shock absorber 19 and anchoring device 18, so that longitudinal shocks are absorbed partly by sliding friction and partly by shock absorbers 19. The object 11 is held fast to the skis by wedges 28 which are attached to the skis by bolts 31 engaging in elongated slots 16, the wedges having bolts which engage the object 11 with a protective plank 35 between them. The skis may be interconnected by cross members which also support wedges to engage the sides of the object (Figs. 5-7, not shown), or a trestle can be fixed to the skis for carrying mirrors (Figs. 8-10, not shown).
