Abstract

1,007,140. Extension and injection moulding machines. FRASER & GLASS Ltd. Oct. 9, 1962 [July 12, 1961], No. 25204/61. Heading B5A. A screw 12 in an extrusion or injection moulding machine is provided with a detachable smear head 13 shaped as shown when polystyrene is plasticized and fed to an extrusion die or an injection mould, and which may be replaced by smear heads of different longitudinal profile when other plastics such as nylon and polyvinyl chloride are treated. Additionally, the outlet portion of the barrel 11 may be replaceable by another of a different form depending upon the material to be treated. Alternatively, the machine may be provided with interchangeable screws, each with a different smear head.
