To control the voltage in a welding rectifier circuit a transductor having a control winding wholly or partly traversed by the welding current is employed having a voltage-current characteristic which can be varied at any point from a 5A/100V. ascending slope to a 10 V/100A descending slope. The transductor may have one or more biasing windings and the control winding may be reversibly connected into the welding circuit.
