Abstract

1,005,925. Reciprocating compressors. M. CLAUSEN, [trading as FIRMA DANFOSS VED. ING M. CLAUSEN]. Nov. 27, 1961 [Nov. 26, 1960], No. 42389/61. Heading FIN. A hermetically sealed reciprocating pistontype motor-compressor unit has inlet silencing means formed integrally with and circumferentially surrounding the compressor cylinder, and outlet silencing means forming part of a compressed fluid delivery line and spaced from the compressor cylinder. As shown, the motor 3 drives a centrifugal oil pump 7 and a refrigerant compressor whose cylinder 10 has a delivery pipe leading to a silencer 16. The cylinder also has side extensions 12, 13 containing inlet silencing chambers. Alternatively (Fig. 2, not shown) these silencing chambers partially encircle the cylinder. To reduce the heat transfer to the gas in the capsule 2, the pressure pipe 17 from the silencer 16 may be lagged, and the silencer 16 may also be insulated, for example by a spaced foil cover, as described in Specification 1,005,924, or may be outside the capsule.
