Abstract

1,003,219. Closures. MIDDLETON PLASTICS Ltd. Dec. 5, 1963 [Dec. 12, 1962], No. 46926/62. Heading B8T. A self-venting screw cap has its end wall comprised by a membrane 7 joined to its skirt 2 by a deformable annular sealing portion 8 which engages the inner edge of a container mouth. Gas may escape past the portion 8 and the interengaging screwthreads, and a groove may be provided in the threads for this purpose. The end wall 7, 8 may be separate from the skirt, and held in position by an inwardly extending flange on the skirt. The membrane may be dome-shaped as indicated at 7<SP>1</SP>.
