Abstract
1,002,769. Electrical purification of gases. ONODA CEMENT CO. Ltd. July 16, 1962 [Sept. 5, 1961], No. 27172/62. Heading B2J. The spraying apparatus which is the subject of Specification 993,277 is applied to inlet gases to a dust collector in a dry type of rotary cement oven. The conductivity of the gases admitted to the dust collector is regulated within optimum limits by feeding a minimum quantity of water in a spray the droplet size of which ensures that none of the water reaches the walls of the inlet humidifying chamber before evaporation. A shown in Fig. 2, exhaust gases from the oven pass into a humidifying chamber with spray nozzles 9 fed with water and compressed air. Precipitation in the humidifying chamber is collected in hoppers 17 and evacuated by screw 18. Deposit on the walls of the chamber and hoppers is removed by shock vibrators 16. Such a vibrator may also be attached to the nozzles. The humidifying chamber may be vertical with a downflow of gases. The water spray may be launched into the gas stream at various angles but not directly at the walls of the chamber.
